It was an awesome experience working with Amanda Munro.  She is definitely an artist that has paved her way with a unique sound all her own.  She reminds me a bit of Joni Mitchell who I love so much!  Take some time to read about this inspiring artist and I hope you download her music!

Where are you from and how long have you been singing?

I was born and raised in California, but I’ve lived all over the West (Oregon, New Mexico, Colorado, and Nevada...even Mexico!) I’ve been singing since I could talk, and I was writing songs as early as eleven. But I didn’t take it seriously until I joined an acapella group in high school and started taking singing lessons in college.

Who are your musical influences?

John Denver was my first major inspiration. I was eleven years old when I got “John Denver’s Greatest Hits.” It was the first CD I ever owned, and I played it on repeat until my sibling was sick of it and told me to stop. I just love his lyrics and the way his voice soars effortlessly.

Now, I’d say my biggest musical influence is Brandi Carlile. I love her voice and her lyrics, but also her presence and how she gives back to the world. It’s also just really cool to see an openly-gay woman telling her story unapologetically. I definitely want to be like her.

Do you write and how do you get inspired?

All of my songs are inspired by real events that have happened in my life. A lot of my songs tend to be sad, because that’s typically when I’m most inspired to write. I use music as a way to express my feelings when they’re too overwhelming for me to get them out any other way.

Tell us about your experience working with Off The Row in the Studio?

I had a blast working with Off the Row! The session players were so talented, and they took my songs to new heights I never could have imagined on my own. And after Houston worked his magic, I was blown away. It was one of the most positive experiences of my life so far.

How is the pandemic affecting music for you?

Well, it’s been hard not being able to perform live. I really thrive off the energy of a live audience. But, I’ve been trying to find creative ways to engage fans digitally. It’s been tough, but it also gave me the push I needed to record this EP with Off the Row, so I can’t complain too much.

What is your favorite song you wrote and why?

My favorite song that I wrote I think has to be Sound of Heartbreak. It’s a sad song, but I love it because the imagery is so evocative. It’s all about that moment when you know a relationship is doomed, but you’re still in it because you love the other person too much to leave...even when their actions are hurting you. I remember being in that relationship and thinking how it would be so much easier to end it if there were slamming doors and raised voices, but really the harmful behaviors were so much more subtle than that.

What are your musical plans for 2021?

That’s a good question! I’d like to record a couple music videos, and hopefully start performing again to promote the EP.

How would you describe your sound?

I always have a hard time answering this question. The genre I’d say is singer-songwriter / Americana. As for the sound, it’s an emotional journey.

What is your favorite quote that describes how you view life?

“Tell me, what else should I have done?

Doesn't everything die at last, and too soon?

Tell me, what is it you plan to do

with your one wild and precious life?” - Mary Oliver

Any exciting news musically or personal?

I applied to grad school for marine conservation at the end of last year, and I got into one program so far!

What are your plans for 2021?

I just released two as singles and then the EP. I'm am currently going to grad school right now.
